Martin State Airport Neighbors Committee

The Martin State Airport Neighbors Committee was formed in 1992, and includes airport administrators, planners, community leaders, and legislators. The purpose of the committee is to further improve communications between the Martin State Airport (MTN) Administration and the airport's neighboring communities.

Similar to the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) Neighbors Committee, the MTN Neighbors Committee provides a public forum for the airport's Administration and local communities to address issues of mutual concern and to exchange information and ideas of common interest. Additionally, it provides MTN Administration with a means of advising its neighbors of any future developments or proposed changes which might affect the surrounding communities, while providing the neighbors committees the opportunity to voice their concerns or opinions about airport issues.

The MTN Neighbors Committee held its first meeting on October 15, 1992. Originally, meetings were held more or less quarterly. However, once important issues such as noise, airport growth, and aircraft traffic patterns were discussed, initial interest waned. By mutual agreement of all parties, it was decided to hold future meetings only when the Administration or the Neighbors Committee want to address specific issues.

Local communities represented on the MTN Neighbors Committee include:

  • Ballard Gardens Improvement Association
  • Baltimore County Mobile Home Association
  • Bowleys Quarters Improvement Association
  • Essex-Middle River Civic Council
  • Essex-Middle River-White Marsh Chamber of Commerce
  • Hawthorne Civic Association
  • Nottingham Association
  • Oliver Beach Improvement Association, Inc.
  • Stevens Road Improvement Association
  • Wilson Point Civic Association
